Red Carpet rolled out for City Employee Recognition Awards Luncheon

City employees walked the red carpet Thursday for their annual Employee Recognition Awards Luncheon where award recipients received "treemies" awards for Excellence in Service Delivery, Innovation, Leadership, Teamwork and Safety. Employees were also honored for longevity and awards were given for 5 years, 10 years and 15 years of service. Special recognition went to Ron LaFrance (Community Development), Ken Becker (Library), Linda Mungia (Community Services), Matt Ortega (Police), and Justin Murphy (Public Works) for 20 years of service. Nick Szegda (Library) was recognized for 25 years and Arlinda Heineck (Community Development) for 30 years of service. Employee Excellence Award nominations are made by City staff, who selected:
  • Excellence in Service Delivery Award - Leno Perez, Public Works Maintenance Division 
  • Innovation Award - Nicholas Yee, Transportation Division
  • Leadership Award - John McGirr, Finance Division of Administrative Services
  • Teamwork Award - Michael Fu, Engineering Division 
  • Team Excellence Award - The Building Inspection Team (Rini Bunji, Scott McBirney, Tim Weber, John McCabe and Patrick Springer)
New employees, retirees and promotions were also honored at the event, which featured the theme of an awards show, complete with host Brian Henry of the Public Works and Management staff as guest presenters.
