Earlier this week, Menlo Park Police Chief Robert Jonsen was challenged by his colleague, San Mateo Police Chief Susan Manheimer, to undertake the Officer Down Memorial Page
(ODMP) Ice Bucket Challenge, to honor the more than 60 California police officers who have given their lives in the line of duty.
Everyone who receives the challenge has 48 hours to complete it, provided they are not currently on vacation. If they accept, they donate $10 to the Officer Down Memorial Page and undertake their own icy dunking. If they do not accept, or fail to complete the challenge within the 48 hours, they donate $100 to the cause.
Chief Jonsen accepted the challenge and asked members of his Chief’s Advisory Council do the honors in recognition of the group’s recent one year anniversary.
