Construction on the Oak Grove Crane University Bike Improvement Project is beginning! On Wednesday, May 31, 2017, the Public Works Department opened construction bids for the Oak Grove Crane University Bike Improvement Project. Two contractors submitted bids and Chrisp Company from Fremont was the lowest responsive bidder at $109,000 which was $15,000 lower than the engineer’s estimate of $124,000. The contract was executed June 16, 2017, and construction is on schedule to be completed by the time schools resume in August.
The project is a one-year trial installation of a bicycle facility on segments of Oak Grove Avenue, University Drive and Crane Street. Once the project is fully installed this summer, the one year trial period will begin. The route connects key destinations in the City including schools, the downtown and residential neighborhoods.
