The annual Library Volunteer Recognition Event was held May 25. Mayor Kirsten Keith addressed the assembled volunteers and thanked them for their hard work. According to volunteer coordinator Juan Quinonez, library volunteers have contributed more than 7000 hours in the past fiscal year -- working as literacy tutors with Project Read, as "Moles" in the library basement (sorting, pricing, and listing books for the Friends of the Library), and helping library staff mend books, prepare for events and search for missing items. "Volunteers bring our community together and make Menlo Park a wonderful place to live," said Mayor Keith, "We are so happy to have the opportunity to thank them and celebrate their work."
