Peninsula Clean Energy is San Mateo County’s official electricity provider, offering cleaner electricity at lower rates. Last year over 80,000 customers were switched to PCE-provided electricity, which is at least 50 percent sourced from renewable wind, solar, geothermal and hydropower generators. This is nearly twice the renewable energy PG&E customers receive. In addition, PCE rates for this energy are 5 percent lower than PG&E’s electric generation rates. It is a great combination of greener electricity and lower prices.

PCE began sending enrollment notifications in February 2017 to the final 210,000 residential and business customers throughout San Mateo County. All customers continue to receive electric delivery and a consolidated bill from PG&E.

Customers are automatically enrolled at the ECOplus level, which is cleaner (50 percent renewable and 75 percent greenhouse gas free). You can also choose to opt-up to the ECO100 level, like the City of Menlo Park did for all of its city facilities, which provides you 100 percent renewable energy at the small premium of 1 cent per kilowatt-hour.
