The
Department of Public Works has taken steps to create more shade at
Seminary Oaks Park. Multiple new trees were planted in strategic locations to provide long-term shade near pathways and benches. Commonly known as forest green oaks (Quercus frainetto), the new trees are drought resistant and will reach a mature height over 50’ tall. The recent installation of shade structures will also reduce summer temperatures for children playing and climbing on the playgrounds. The new trees and shade structures are the result of collaboration between the City and residents of the surrounding neighborhood.
