Work has begun on the Santa Cruz Avenue sidewalk project. The first of four phases began on the south side (odd numbered addresses) of Santa Cruz Avenue between Olive Street and San Mateo Drive and is expected to last until mid-April.

The contractor is completing the traffic control for this phase of the work.  The two-way left turn lane has been eliminated and eastbound traffic (towards downtown) has been shifted toward the center of the road. Bicycle lanes will be maintained in each direction.

Please note that the walking path will be closed on the south side of Santa Cruz Avenue between Olive Street and San Mateo Drive during construction.  Pedestrians should use the crosswalks at Olive Street and San Mateo Drive to cross Santa Cruz Avenue and then walk along the north side of Santa Cruz Avenue.

The construction within City streets will cause inconvenience, but the City and the contractor will be working hard to minimize the disruption. The construction project is expected to last into late September.

For more information regarding lane closures and other traffic impacts, the public is encouraged to read and/or subscribe to the City of Menlo Park Construction News Update and visit the project webpage.
