In winter 2011, a year before the city's
gymnastics program moved into the new
Arrillaga Family Gymnastics Center, the program had 1,225 participants. As the facility turns 5 years old this year, the program now has 1,762 participants registered for the 2017 winter session. There are 237 additional participants on waitlists for the developmental and circus arts programs and although preschool classes are not at full capacity, more than 70 participants are on those waitlists, seeking coveted spots in classes with the exact day and time they want. The preschool 10 a.m. hour and Saturday slots are the most coveted times in the gym and are all at maximum capacity. The 4 p.m. classes are the most coveted times for the developmental program and again are at maximum capacity. The circus arts program, which began in 2013, has grown from seven to 15 classes a week and is consistently at maximum capacity.
