The City of Menlo Park previously sent letters to residents informing them of the Single-family Affordable Solar Homes Program, which provides free solar photovoltaic technology to qualifying low-income residents. Since the program began in fall 2016, 16 families have received free solar systems. The program is a joint effort of nonprofit organizations, Grid Alternatives and Menlo Spark, with funding from Facebook and Habitat for Humanity.
