The scoping meeting for environmental phase of the SM 101 Managed Lanes project is Thursday, Oct. 27, 6–8 p.m. at San Mateo City Hall, 330 West 20th Ave. in San Mateo. The
U.S. 101 Managed Lanes project would provide a continuous lane in each direction of U.S. 101 from the terminus of the Santa Clara County Express Lanes to I-380 in north San Mateo County. This continuous lane would be managed in real time to achieve maximum efficiency and operations to reduce congestion in the corridor, improve travel time reliability for all users, increase sustainability of existing general-purpose lanes, increase person throughput and apply technology and/or design features to implement real time traffic management tools. Given the importance of the U.S. 101 Corridor from San Francisco County through San Mateo County and into Santa Clara County, finding a solution to the growing congestion and associated delay has become a high priority of the area employers, elected officials, transportation agencies and the community. The project is cosponsored by
C/CAG and the
San Mateo County Transportation Authority in partnership with Caltrans. For more information, please contact the project manager,
Nidal Tuqan, or SMCTA’s project manager
Leo Scott.
