In light of recent tragic events involving police officers, Police Chief
Bob Jonsen invites Menlo Park residents to attend this month’s Chief’s Advisory Committee meeting. The advisory committee consists of residents that live throughout Menlo Park’s neighborhoods. Each member expressed an interest in the department goals and have committed to attending regular monthly meetings with the Chief and the command staff. The meetings provide an open discussion regarding various items that are either being considered by the department or have been expressed as concerns by the community.
The Chief formed this committee in July 2013 and it has met nearly every month since its inception. The committee has been involved in different aspects of the developing issues facing the department such as the transition to department wide use of body cameras, the adoption of Tasers, traffic enforcement issues, homelessness, social media implementation, license plate readers, Neighborhood Watch and many other elements where consideration of outside perspectives is studied.
This month Chief Jonsen and the committee will discuss police relations in the community and the upcoming
National Night Out event planned for Aug. 2. Menlo Park residents that are interested in attending are asked to
email Dani O’Connor and RSVP by Wednesday, July 20. Once all RSVP’s have been received, meeting details and location will be provided to attendees.
