At this year’s annual downtown block party June 15, the downtown paseo hosted the
Menlo Park Library's inaugural party to celebrate "A Century of Stories" in Menlo Park. The yearlong celebration highlights the range of roles filled by the library in its first one hundred years. From beginnings as a small branch of the county library to a full-service city library, it has evolved and grown with the Menlo Park community. During the celebration, jugglers, clowns, magicians, face painters, balloon twisters and a wheel of fortune all filled the paseo; young readers with open hands received exciting books and the patrons baffled by their Kindle devices heard about the intricacies of e-readers. Everyone who visited had a good time, even City Manager Alex McIntyre, who juggled, tossed rings and was part of the human pyramid.
