Menlo Park and Galway are now sisters, sister cities that is! Tuesday, May 3, the City Council unanimously authorized Mayor Rich Cline to sign an
agreement with the City of Galway, Ireland, to make it Menlo Park's first official sister city. This relationship dates back over 150 years to when two Galway men, Dennis J. Oliver and Daniel C. McGlynn, from the village of Menlo near Galway, traveled to California and purchased a ranch they named Menlo Park.
Mayor Cline is traveling to Ireland on business and will attend an official signing ceremony May 19. Galway Mayor Frank Fahy also plans to visit Menlo Park in early June. A public welcoming ceremony is planned with more details to come. For more information, visit the
