The Town of Atherton announced a construction project to replace the Atherton Channel walls and floor from Middlefield Road northerly to Fair Oaks Avenue will begin in mid-May. The retaining wall supporting Marsh Road, which also forms one of the walls of Atherton Channel, is in need of repair. When the channel is completed, a metal railing to prevent vehicles from driving into the channel from Marsh Road will be installed.
Due to safety requirements during construction, Marsh Road will be partially or completely closed. A schedule of road closures and detours will be made available soon on the Atherton town website. Several public meetings to inform the public about traffic detours and impacts are planned. The first meeting is:
