On September 11, 2014, the first of two community workshop was conducted for ConnectMenlo, the City’s General Plan Update. The workshop was attended by approximately 45 participants, representing both residents and business owners in the community. Attendees had an opportunity to break out into small roundtable groups to discuss and craft guiding principles, or vision statements, on four major themes: 1) Commercial Activity and Design, 2) Neighborhood and Environmental Sustainability, 3) Community Services and Quality of Life and 4) Transportation, Connectivity and Mobility. Amongst the groups' draft guiding principles, there was some common ground formed, including creating greater equity in distribution of services and resources amongst the various neighborhoods in the City and improving connectivity for all modes of transportation, including reuse of the Dumbarton rail corridor.
It's not too late to participate. The presentation will be repeated next
Wednesday, September 17th, during another workshop from 7:00-9:00pm at the Menlo Park Senior Center (100 Terminal Avenue). In addition, an online survey will be launched on September 19th, which will provide members of the public another opportunity to prioritize the draft guiding principles resulting from the workshops and/or add your own. We need your input! To stay connected and receive updates on the process, please visit the
