First Movie on the Paseo a "Well-Connected" Success

Posted on September 14, 2014 at 12:00 am by Clay Curtin

On Friday, September 5th, Community Services kicked off the Menlo Movie Series in downtown Menlo Park on the temporary paseo on Chestnut Street at Santa Cruz Avenue. Nearly 100 community attendees huddled in blankets and lounge chairs and "got connected" with one another while watching The Lego Movie (2014) on a large inflatable screen. Eyes were glued to the screen as laughter echoed on Chestnut Street throughout the evening. After the event, when asked what movie he would like to see next year, a young boy (dressed as Spiderman) replied, “I would like to see a Spiderman movie” (he asked us to keep his identity a secret). Residents will have one more opportunity to attend the downtown Menlo Movie Series on Friday, September 19th, as Saving Mr. Banks (2013) plays on the “big screen” on the paseo.
