Menlo Park submitted
review comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement Report, Phase 2 of the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project to the State Coastal Conservancy on October 30, 2015. The project proposes to restore acres of former salt-evaporation ponds which were acquired by the Fish and Wildlife Service in 2003 from Cargill, Inc. The Ravenswood Ponds, located next to
Bedwell Bayfront Park, would be restored from marsh habitat to tidal zones. The restoration effort would improve the habitat and provide recreational opportunities to the public. One of the project objectives is also to maintain or improve flood protection. For more information, please visit the
State Coastal Conservancy's project page.
