The City is in the Halloween spirit

Posted on October 26, 2015 at 8:30 am by Nicole Acker

The City offers many fun events throughout the community for the week of Halloween. Many visitors have enjoyed the Onetta Harris Community Center's festive decorations, including doors decorated with eye-catching and family friendly monster characters. The annual Spooky Carnival takes place Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015 from 4-6 p.m. at the center.

Both Menlo Park branch libraries will join in on the Halloween fun. The Belle Haven Branch Library encourages the public to join in a costume parade around the block, costume contest and sugar skull decorating Friday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. The main library also brings some fun by offering Pumpkin Decorating Day on Saturday, Oct. 24 for children of various ages:
  • 18 months-4 years (with an adult) from 10:15-11:30 a.m.
  • 5-8 years (with an adult) from 12:30-1:45 p.m.
  • 9-12 years from 2:15-3:30 p.m.

For Halloween day on Saturday, Oct. 31, downtown Menlo Park will host the 2015 Halloween Hoopla. The public is encouraged to come dressed in costume and participate in the annual parade through downtown Menlo Park to Fremont Park starting at 11:45 a.m. The parade will be led by music students from La Entrada and Hillview Middle Schools and will start in the Maloney Street parking lot off Santa Cruz Avenue. After the parade, from 12:30-3:00 p.m., children are welcome to trick-or-treat at local downtown merchants. Cheeky Monkey Toys will be sponsoring the craft area at Fremont Park where magic and ventriloquist shows will be provided by Marshal Magoon and Steve Chaney along with carnival games. Free trick-or-treat bags will be available at Fremont Park for all children.

For a safe and enjoyable trick-or-treat evening experience, stop by the Belle Haven Neighborhood Service Center and Trick-or-Treat with Cops. The police department and participating businesses from the Belle Haven Center will be handing out candy, glow sticks and more from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Halloween night at 871 Hamilton Ave.
