Ten watercolors by well-regarded local artist Rachel Bentley are now in the process of paper conservation, matting and framing. The watercolors, which originally hung at the Burgess Recreation Center, are part of a larger collection of Rachel Bentley watercolors which were given to the City of Menlo Park by local historian Susan Gale in 1970. Kathleen Orlenko, professional paper conservator, will be doing the work to clean the watercolors and then mat and frame them for hanging in the Menlo Park Library. The work will take approximately three months. Funds for this work were designated by the City Council during the fiscal year 2014-15 budget process and will be supplemented by additional funds through the City Manager’s Office, if needed.
