[ARCHIVED] Menlo Park’s Urban Forestry efforts recognized in Sacramento

Trees for Menlo, a nonprofit dedicated to planting trees in the City, and the Department of Public Works were recently recognized by the California Urban Forests Council. Both organizations were presented with the Astounding Urban Forestry Project Award for projects completed in 2014. The Astounding Urban Forestry Project Award is given to organizations that address two or more environmental or public safety issues, involve the community and significantly enhance the urban forest and livability of the community. Trees for Menlo was acknowledged for the successful planting of over 350 trees along El Camino Real. The Department of Public Works was recognized for the conversion of a hazardous pine tree into a play structure in Fremont Park. Photographed below is Chuck Kinney from Trees for Menlo.

Menlo Tree Award
