As part of the City and County Association of Governments of San Mateo County (C/CAG) Smart Corridor Project, the City has received nine new traffic signal controllers on Willow Rd., Middlefield Rd., Ravenswood Ave., and Marsh Rd. The new traffic signal controllers will enable the City’s traffic signals to communicate, via fiber optics, with each other and with Caltrans signals and be managed by City and Caltrans during incidents at US 101 in San Mateo County. The new traffic signal controllers will be programmed for coordinated, adaptive traffic signal operation in the future that will improve traffic flow on Marsh Rd. and Willow Rd. The new timing plans are expected to be in place by the end of October 2015. For more information, see San Mateo County Smart Corridors.
