Posted on July 19, 2015 at 12:50 am by Clay Curtin

On Monday, July 13, the Planning Commission held an environmental impact report scoping session and study session on the Facebook campus expansion project. The project proposes 963,000 square feet of new office development and a potential 200-room hotel on the remainder of the former Tyco/TE property at 300-309 Constitution Drive. The scoping session, as well as the ongoing comment period for the Notice of Preparation (NOP) allow the Planning Commission and public the opportunity to provide feedback on topics that should be analyzed in the EIR. At the study session, Facebook made a presentation and received feedback from the Planning Commission and members of the public on the preliminary design and site layout. Two members of the public spoke on topics to be studied in the EIR as well as features to be included in the project. The Planning Commission expressed general support for the overall design, including the public open space and connection to the San Francisco Bay Trail, while asking the applicant to investigate opportunities for reducing the amount of on-site surface parking. The comment period for the NOP runs through Monday, July 20, at 5 p.m. More information on the proposed project, including links to the project plans, staff reports, and presentations can be found on the project page.
