All maintenance workers in the Public Works Department recently completed first aid and CPR training. They learned how to remain calm and provide immediate care in cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies until advanced medical personnel arrive. While it's not fun to think about emergencies and as much as we hope they'll never happen, staff do have to be prepared. CPR and first aid are things that everyone -- especially those who work in public spaces -- should know. The value of CPR and first aid training is priceless in an emergency and many of our workers are everywhere the public might need help, in City facilities, parks and streets.
