Alma/Ravenswood intersection modifications coming June 2

Posted on May 31, 2015 at 12:15 am by Clay Curtin

On May 5, 2015, the City Council approved a 6-month trial of changes to the Alma Street/Ravenswood Avenue intersection as part of efforts to improve safety at the intersection and the adjacent rail crossing. As of June 2, 2015, all left turns at the intersection of Alma Street at Ravenswood Avenue will be restricted as well as the right turn from eastbound Ravenswood Avenue to southbound Alma Street, as shown in the image below. The existing pedestrian crossing will remain as part of the trial. Bicyclists will still be able to make the eastbound right turn from Ravenswood to Alma, but no left turns are permitted. Bicyclists may dismount and use the pedestrian crosswalk or alter their travel route accordingly. The installation will be monitored over the 6-month trial period to determine if the changes are implemented permanently and/or if additional modifications are recommended. Please contact the transportation division with any questions or concerns.
