Celebrating our dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

Posted on April 12, 2021 at 10:08 pm by Clay Curtin

April 11-17 is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and we are thankful for our professional communications dispatchers. Dispatchers are the employees on the other end of the line when we call for help in an emergency. They are the first voice callers hear when 9-1-1 is dialed and the unsung heroes working around the clock to help protect us.

Behind every officer is a capable, caring, compassionate communications dispatcher, ensuring that our response is timely and our community is safe. We appreciate and thank them for all that they do to keep our communities and officers safe.

Communications dispatchers are responsible for receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls for our Police Department. Responsibilities are centered on extensive contact with the public over the telephone, in both emergency and non-emergency situations to receive, transmit and provide information and assistance. All activities are performed within specified legal guidelines.

The Police Department is currently recruiting for the position of public safety communications dispatcher. If you are interested in learning more about the communications dispatcher profession and/or joining a dynamic group of caring and skilled professionals, please visit the City of Menlo Park job opportunities webpage.
