Personalize your plate during National Nutrition Month

National Nutrition Month® is an annual campaign created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. National Nutrition Month® was initiated in 1973 as National Nutrition Week, and it became a monthlong observance in 1980 in response to growing interest in nutrition. During the month of March, everyone is invited to learn about making healthy changes to their diet. By trying to create healthier eating and exercise habits, you can be a healthier you! This year’s theme is Personalize Your Plate. We are all different and have individual taste preferences and goals. During March, strive to incorporate some healthy eating habits in your home.
  • Cooking and prepping: learn skills to create tasty meals to share and enjoy.
  • Meal planning: enjoy healthy eating at work, school and home. By planning out your meals you can increase your chances of success.
  • Vary your diet: eat a variety of nutritious foods daily
  • Start your day with a healthy breakfast that includes lean protein, whole grains, fruits and vegetables.
  • Make half of your plate fruits and vegetables.
  • Watch your portion sizes
  • Stay active: regular physical activity has many health benefits.
  • Get to know food labels to meet your nutrition needs.
