Two development projects in the Bayfront Area reached a milestone with the release of their draft environmental impact reports (draft EIRs). On December 4, 2020, the City released the draft EIRs for the proposed 111 Independence Drive and Menlo Uptown development projects. These are available on the
city environmental documents webpage. A hard copy of each draft EIR is also available for curbside pickup at the
Menlo Park Library.
Members of the public are encouraged to review the draft EIRs and participate in the upcoming January 7, 2021, Planning Commission meeting, to provide comments on the draft EIRs and the proposed projects. The comment review period for the two draft EIRs is happening now through Tuesday, February 2, 2021. Written comments must be submitted no later than 5 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, for each project.
111 Independence Drive:
- Includes 105 multifamily residential units
- Approximately 746 square foot café
- Written comments must be submitted by email to Contract Principal Planner Payal Bhagat or by letter to Payal Bhagat, Community Development, 701 Laurel St., Menlo Park, CA 94025.
Menlo Uptown project:
- Located at 141 Jefferson Drive and 180-186 Constitution Drive
- Includes 483 residential units (441 apartments and 42 for-sale townhomes)
- Approximately 2,940 square feet of office
- Written comments must be submitted by email to Senior Planner Tom Smith or by letter to Tom Smith, Community Development, 701 Laurel St., Menlo Park, CA 94025.
Following the close of the public review period February 2, 2021, for these draft EIRs, the City will prepare a final EIR for each proposed project, which will include responses to all substantive comments received on each draft EIR.
