Belle Haven helmet giveaway serves 50 local students

Posted on November 4, 2020 at 9:12 pm by Clay Curtin

On Wednesday, October 21, the Menlo Park Safe Routes to School program held a helmet giveaway event in the Belle Haven neighborhood and provided 50 helmets to local children.

The event was a collaboration with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and organized to serve students 5-17 years old. Parents and children came to get free helmets and proper fittings.

Back to school had a very different look this year due to COVID-19. Many children that attended the event, mentioned they would like to go to school biking or walking when school reopens for in person education.

Bike lights and other Safe Routes to School resources such as the Menlo Park SRTS Activity Book, Walk and Roll Maps and walking and biking safety tip flyers and booklets were also provided to families.
