Police department honors employee and officer of the year

On February 19th, the police department recognized its employee and officer of the year for 2014. Code Enforcement officer Eleonor Hilario received the department’s employee of the year recognition and Brent Hughes was named officer of the year.

Hilario’s award highlights her high level of commitment to her code enforcement officer role over the last 2 years. She’s credited with making a tremendous impact in the community by addressing health and safety hazards, enforcement of City codes/regulations, blight prevention, and quality of life issues that affect Menlo Park’s residents and businesses. She fields an extraordinary amount of calls/concerns and manages an extensive caseload while maintaining a pleasant demeanor and unwavering professionalism.  

Officer Brent Hughes has been with the department for nearly 5 years and exudes an admirable enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. He displays a professional demeanor during his encounters with others and has a passion for law enforcement geared to better the community and himself. He is a proactive officer who is also assigned to the SWAT unit. Officer Hughes will undoubtedly continue to make significant contributions to the Menlo Park community.
