No water disconnections during the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order

Posted on March 28, 2020 at 7:44 pm by Clay Curtin

Water is an essential piece in protecting public health and safety. As we are faced with this pandemic, the City wants to reassure our customers that we will continue to provide this essential service to Menlo Park Municipal Water customers and there will be no disconnections or shutoffs during this time.

Please know that our drinking water is safe. Menlo Park Municipal Water purchases all of its water from San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC). This water comes from the Hetch Hetchy reservoir in the Yosemite Valley, surface water from local watersheds, and/or imported water from the Sunol Valley Water Treatment plant.

According to the World Health Organization and the American Water Works Association, current treatment methods used by SFPUC are sufficient to disinfect water for contaminants, including COVID-19.

In response to the San Mateo County’s shelter-in-place order, City facilities are closed to the public. We are carefully monitoring advisories regarding COVID-19 and are also taking precautionary steps to protect the health of our employees and customers. Customers can continue to call our customer service line at 844-463-6567 or 650-330-6750 for any billing related questions.
