Two interim appointees named to permanent positions

Two employees who have held interim leadership positions were appointed to their respective permanent positions this week.

Nikki Nagaya received a promotion to the position of Transportation Manager. Nikki joined the City Menlo Park in June 2013 as a Senior Transportation Engineer and has served as Interim Transportation Manager since June 2014. She has nine years of experience in transportation planning and engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in California. Prior to coming to Menlo Park, she worked as a consultant, managing a wide range of transportation projects in the South Bay Area and Peninsula with a focus on retrofitting infrastructure to better accommodate people walking and biking. She is passionate about moving people, and outside of work enjoys traveling and experiencing transportation systems around the world, skiing, biking, being outdoors, and cooking.

William Dixon was promoted to the position of Police Commander. He began his career with the Menlo Park Police Department in January 1990 as a Police Explorer. He held various positions throughout the special services and patrol operations divisions over the years, including police academy training officer, field training officer, Narcotics Enforcement Team member, and is a certified drug recognition expert. Dixon has served as Interim Commander of Patrol Operations since January 2014. Dixon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services from Notre Dame de Namur University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public administration at NDNU. In addition, he is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute.
