Staff has issued an encroachment permit to the Rotary Club for Phase 2 of the community garden. Phase 2 will include a fruit tree orchard along with a storage shed. The Rotary plans to plant as many as 12 fruit trees, 6’ apart. The trees will be planted “home orchard” style meaning they will grow no taller than 6’ with a 4’ diameter canopy. They will use dwarf or semi-dwarf rootstock to prevent trees from growing any taller. Phase 2 is tentatively scheduled to begin February 21 and Facebook has agreed to fund the project.
