With the passage of Measure W, new transportation funding is coming to San Mateo County. The San Mateo County Transportation Authority (SMCTA) will administer the funds in several categories, including
- Pedestrian
- Bicycle
- Highway improvements
- Grade separations
- Regional transit connections
A portion of funding will also go to local cities for their safety, pothole and congestion relief needs.
On October 11, 2019, SMCTA released the draft five-year strategic plan covering 2020-2014. The plan outlines how SMCTA will make investment decisions over the next five years for the funds from Measures A and W, including the project evaluation and prioritization process. These decisions will have a major impact on transportation funding in San Mateo County.
SMCTA worked with local agencies in the development of the draft plan and hopes for the public to take some time to review and comment. The
draft plan and comment form are available online with the public comment period closing November 14, 2019.
Information on the draft plan will be presented at an online virtual town hall.
