Join us for the second annual Viva Frida and Dia de Los Muertos

Posted on October 14, 2019 at 8:01 pm by Clay Curtin

The second annual Viva Frida and Dia de los Muertos is fast approaching at the Menlo Park Senior Center. Seniors and local community members, as well as Beechwood first-grade students, are preparing. The senior folkloric dancers are practicing for their performance, and the menu for the evening is being readied by the kitchen staff.

As one of the few evening special programs hosted at the Menlo Park Senior Center for the community, the event last year drew in an unprecedented crowd to enjoy the music, singing and dancing, as well as crafts, incredible displays and delicious food. Day of the Dead celebrates those gone, and remembers them through festivities, lights, altars and gathering of loved ones.

This year's event is Friday, November 1, from 6-8 p.m. The event is free to public, and everyone is encouraged to come as Frida Khalo or another character of his or her choice. There will be food and refreshments to purchase.
