Last week
City Arborist Christian Bonner held a tree-pruning workshop for the Public Works maintenance staff focused on pruning and maintenance of the City’s young trees. According to the
International Society of Arboriculture, proper pruning is essential in developing a tree with strong structure and desirable form. Young trees that receive proper pruning early on will require less corrective pruning as they mature. The workshop was a combination of class lecture and hands-on training which involved nine young trees at the City’s corporation yard parking lot. A refresher course will be held in six months at a local city park.
