Last week City Arborist Christian Bonner
held a tree-pruning workshop for the Public Works maintenance staff focused on pruning and maintenance of the City’s young trees. According to the International Society of Arboriculture
, proper pruning is essential in developing a tree with strong structure and desirable form. Young trees that receive proper pruning early on will require less corrective pruning as they mature. The workshop was a combination of class lecture and hands-on training which involved nine young trees at the City’s corporation yard parking lot. A refresher course will be held in six months at a local city park.
