Upgrades to Middlefield Road PG&E natural gas pipeline

Posted on March 11, 2019 at 5:58 pm by Peter Ibrahim

PG&E crews are currently replacing the existing gas distribution main pipeline along Middlefield Road from Eighth Avenue in unincorporated San Mateo County, through Atherton, and up to Ringwood Avenue in Menlo Park. The project involves replacing and upgrading existing High Pressure Regulators (HPRs) currently connecting natural gas services from underground transmission and distribution pipelines to businesses along Middlefield Road.

The work began the week of February 18, 2019, and is expected to be completed by the end of September. The work is being performed at night (8:00 pm-5:00 am) to minimize disruption to vehicular traffic and pedestrians along Middlefield Road and adjacent streets. Potholing and tree protection activities will also be performed as part of this project.

In order to perform the work safely and quickly, there will be lane closures and shifts during the nighttime construction periods. Use caution while driving through the area and please be patient as the work is being performed.
