Save the date! The City is creating a Citywide Safe Routes to School program and is hosting a fun and interactive event to help educate residents. Join us Sunday, March 24, from 1-4 p.m. at the
Arrillaga Family Recreation Center (Sequoia Room/Patio), 700 Alma Street.
The event will offer both fun and informational opportunities such as:
- A free mobile bike repair station
- Bike blender to make free smoothies
- Bike helmet fittings
- Opportunity to give feedback for the Menlo Park Safe Routes to School program
- Representatives from Parents for Safe Routes, San Mateo County Health System, San Mateo County Office of Education, SamTrans, and more on hand to answer questions
Goals of this program include:
- Getting children to school safely by promoting biking and walking
- Developing a comprehensive curriculum to instill basic safety skills at an elementary school age
- Offering resources for both public and private schools to help promote alternatives for getting children to school other than driving
For the most up-to-date information, visit the
Safe Routes to School program webpage. Questions or feedback can be sent to the City's
Transportation Demand Management Coordinator Nicholas Yee.
