Police and Fire face off for "Battle of the Badges" blood drive

Posted on November 26, 2018 at 6:28 pm by Peter Ibrahim

Join your local police and fire heroes at this American Red Cross blood drive to ensure hospitals and patients have the lifesaving blood they need. Menlo Park's local "Battle of the Badges" blood drive is planned for Thursday, December 13, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 701 Laurel St.

The American Red Cross is currently facing a severe blood shortage and needs our help now, so blood can be available for patients during this critical time. Menlo Park firefighters and law enforcement personnel are teaming up with the American Red Cross for our second Battle of the Badges blood drive to see who can recruit the most eligible donors in the community to give blood. Our first drive was a great success bringing in 29 pints of blood. We hope to exceed this amount this time around.

Battle of the Badges is a friendly competition that helps the Red Cross meet patient and hospital demand for blood. First responders know firsthand how important it is to have blood readily available for emergencies and are excited to step up to the challenge by organizing this drive and educating the community about the importance of blood donation.

The American Red Cross will be handing out "Battle of the Badges" t-shirts.

Individuals can join the Battle of the Badges blood drive by registering online or stopping by to donate blood on site. Appointments are encouraged but are not required. Make your appointment online or call 800-RED-CROSS.
