Update on 2018 street resurfacing project

Posted on October 1, 2018 at 6:00 pm by Peter Ibrahim

The City’s annual street preventive maintenance project is almost done. As of this week, 34 out of the 51 street sections that were identified to be coated with an asphalt sealant remain to be completed. The remaining streets are scheduled to be sealed beginning Monday, October 1, 2018, and completed by Monday, October 15, 2018. Before sealing the streets, contractor crews will be removing and repairing damaged pavement areas and concrete curb and gutter; and pavement striping will be restored after the sealing has cured. During these activities, please use alternate routes during these dates and expect delays in the area. Thank you for your patience as staff works hard to rehabilitate the City’s roadway while keeping traffic moving and keeping the public safe.

Senate Bill 1 (SB1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, was signed into law on April 28, 2017. This legislative package invests $54 billion over the next decade to fix roads, freeways and bridges in communities across California and puts more dollars toward transit and safety. These funds will be split equally between state and local investments. SB1 is partly funding this project to help the City fix our roads. This funding is essential for rebuilding California, keeping our roadways safe, decreasing congestion and creating jobs.
