Following the completion of Phase 1, which involved drilling a well at the Corporation Yard for emergency use, the contract for Phase 2 of the project is being awarded. Phase 2 involves the installation of pumping and disinfection equipment, as well as an emergency generator. Construction is anticipated to begin early in 2019 and last through the end of spring. Once commissioned, the well will provide an alternate source of water to customers in the
Menlo Park Municipal Water service area that are located east of El Camino Real during emergencies. This will be the first of two to three wells that are planned to improve the reliability of the water system. Staff will notify the community of the construction start date via mailed postcard, newspaper advertisement and updates on the the
Backup Supply Well #1 project webpage.
