On Monday, May 14, 2018, the Planning Commission unanimously approved three proposed
mixed-use development projects at 1125 Merrill St., 506-540 Santa Cruz Ave. and 556-558 Santa Cruz Ave., across the street from the Menlo Park Caltrain station. The approved proposals will redevelop the existing sites.
The three developments will include 22,226 square feet of non-medical office space, 4,617 square feet of retail and café space and nine residential units. Parking will be provided by two levels of underground parking at 506 Santa Cruz Ave., as well as at-grade parking at the rear of the buildings at 556 Santa Cruz Ave. and 1125 Merrill St. All of the parking will be accessed from the 506 Santa Cruz Ave. building. A café with outdoor seating will be provided at 506 Santa Cruz Ave. The projects also include widening the sidewalk along Santa Cruz Avenue and new street trees along both Santa Cruz Avenue and Merrill Street. Demolition of the existing buildings and construction of the new buildings should begin within the next three to four months.
