The
Menlo Park Senior Center, in collaboration with Center for Independence of Individuals with Disabilities, held its second annual emergency preparedness for seniors on Tuesday, April 24. The crowd of over 120 seniors and community members packed the Senior Center's dining hall to listen to guest speakers, circle around to each resource table, and empower themselves in the case of an emergency.
Representatives from local first responders educated the crowd about average response time, and what caregivers and seniors can do to prepare for emergencies. Suggestions on what to pack for emergencies, from water to extra medicine, and shoes, to appropriate snacks and blankets were suggested.
From the information guests received, to great treats, prizes, and free goodie bags filled with emergency supplies, everyone walked away satisfied with more knowledge about emergency preparedness. This annual event was sponsored by the City of Menlo Park and was bilingual in Spanish and English.
