Peninsula Youth Orchestra (PYO) presents “Young People’s Concert” with Orchestra Nova Musicians at the
Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center on Sunday January 11th, 2015. The concert is from 2:30-3:30 pm and is free to attend. Directed by Sara Salsbury, the event will feature an informal concert for young people, education about instruments used by the orchestra, an up close and personal experience in the orchestra pit, opportunity to play simple percussion instruments with the orchestra, a drawing to conduct the 100-piece orchestra, and an instrument petting zoo at the close of the concert. Young People’s Concert is co-sponsored by the City of Menlo Park through funding from the
Menlo Park Grant for the Arts. PYO serves over 450 musicians from elementary school through high school with a Senior Orchestra, three preparatory orchestras, two flute ensembles, and several string and chamber ensembles. All musicians study the traditional orchestral repertoire with an emphasis on contemporary literature and works by American composers.
