Project Read is the Menlo Park Library's free adult literacy program. We help adult English language learners improve their reading, writing and speaking skills.
Since 1985, Project Read has helped more than 2,800 adults from 56 different countries and trained more than 1,400 volunteer tutors.
Volunteer tutors work one-on-one with an adult English language learner to help them improve their reading, writing and speaking skills and achieve their goals. Pairs commit to one to two hours of tutoring a week for six months. Interested in becoming a volunteer or learner? Email us to schedule an appointment.
Improve your English reading, writing and speaking skills with our beginner classes. We meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Belle Haven Branch Library.
English Conversation Club
Come practice your English speaking skills with people from all over the world! Meet other English language learners and work with our volunteer tutors. Learn about American culture, U.S. history and English vocabulary and phrases. We meet on Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon at the Main Library.
Read Play Learn
Do you have a child between the ages of 2 and 5? If so, join us at our monthly storytime for you and your family. Learn ways to get your child ready to read and to express their creativity. We meet on the second Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon at the Belle Haven Branch Library.
