Pierce Road sidewalks

The project adds new sidewalks to the east side of Pierce Road, the north side of Henderson Avenue and the south side of Del Norte Avenue. The ADA-compliant sidewalks, curb ramps and driveways will improve safety and access.

Residents will be able to walk safely, separated from moving cars. It will create clear paths, free of trip hazards and be accessible for people with disabilities.

Project funds come from the Measure “A” Pedestrian and Bicycle Program Funding Grant.

Current status

Construction of the sidewalk improvements are currently underway. The City has partnered with the nonprofit, Canopy, to plant trees along Pierce Road. Tree planting is scheduled for December 12, 2020. Please contact Junior Engineer Scott Jaw if you are interested in or have questions about these trees.

We realize that construction will cause inconvenience, but the City and the contractor will work to minimize the disruption. Overnight parking will be allowed on Pierce Road until construction has been completed. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of December 2020.
