Join the next community academy!

Applications will be accepted online in the summer for the next Community Police Academy for the fall  2021 session. The Academy gives our community members firsthand information on how and why the police department operates and takes a look at the culture of police work and the organization.

The academy provides an excellent opportunity for the public to interact with department members. If you want to learn more about what police officers and staff do every day and are interested in criminal law, forensics or investigations, this is the place for you. The Academy is an eight week program open to ages 18 years and older, and takes place on Wednesday evenings, 6:30-9:30 p.m. There is typically one Saturday session from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Get an overview of police operations and structure
  • Learn about services and programs
  • Participate in a classroom setting and role-playing exercises
  • Go on a ride-along with a police officer
