The Street Resurfacing Project is a program of major pavement repairs on the most seriously degraded streets in the City. A layer of new asphalt concrete will be placed over the existing surface of these streets. In order to match the adjacent surfaces at the edges and speed bumps, and at intersections with other streets, the existing pavement will be ground-down almost two inches. In some spots the pavement is so badly damaged that it will be removed entirely, and in other places it will be partially ground-away. After the overlay is placed, the striping and crosswalks will be replaced as they were before.

December 16, 2010
Due to the unfavorable weather forecast, and in order to minimize disturbances in our residential neighborhoods during the peak of the holiday season, the Street Resurfacing Project is being temporarily suspended until after January 1, 2011. The scope of work has not changed: the streets that are still on the list for resurfacing will be done as weather permits.

A contract has been entered into with O’Grady Paving, Inc. to perform the work, and construction is slated to begin on September 7, 2010.
