Need special materials because of visual or physical limitations? Need help getting to the library? Here's how we can help!

Materials and equipment

  • Aladdin closed-circuit TV magnifier (magnifies print 25 times)
  • Applications for Books Aloud and California State Talking Book Library
  • Books on CD
  • Hand-held magnifiers
  • Information clearinghouse about independent living
  • Large print books, magazines, dictionary, and world atlas
  • Product catalogs for people with disabilities

Programs and services

  • A free wheelchair van to and from the library operates one Saturday per month. The library's Saturday Series programs are scheduled at 11:00 am on these days.
  • Outreach volunteers deliver books to Menlo Park residents who are home-bound or in convalescent hospitals.
  • To make your library visits easier, staff can help you locate materials and carry them to the van. If you can't come in very often, we can extend the loan periods on your books.
  • California’s Library Services for People with Print Disabilities, in association with the Library of Congress, provides free Braille and audio books, magazines and playback equipment to all eligible Californians unable to read standard print.
